Our story

A small, independent café with a big village heart

We took over a building full of character, a former Lloyds Bank right on The Borough (the ancient road that runs through the middle of Downton), and turned it into the kind of café we’d want to visit ourselves.

Thirteen years on we’re still proudly family-run. Every hot dish is cooked fresh to order. No fast food here, just made as quickly as we can. Our cakes are baked in-house, the coffee is freshly ground 100% Arabica, and there’s a sunny, sheltered courtyard out back where dogs are always welcome. Locals, holidaymakers, cyclists and New Forest walkers all pass through our door.
